# Static Segments

## What Are Static Segments?

Static segments are fixed groups of contacts manually created and managed by the user. Once a contact is added, it remains in the segment unless removed manually. They are ideal for lists that don't change often, such as VIP clients or attendees of a specific event.

## Getting Started

- **Creating a Static Segment:**
  - Use checkboxes to select contacts from the contact list.
  - Assign them to the segment using the "Add to Segment" option.
  - Choose from New/Existing Segments options, to create a new segment or add contacts to existing segment.

### Key Features

- Automatically updates based on rules.
- Ideal for dynamic and real-time lists.
- Saves time by removing the need for manual updates.

# Using Segments

- **Filter Contacts:**
  - Use segments to filter and view specific groups in the contact list.
- **Targeted Campaigns:**
  - Send messages via [WhatsApp broadcasts](docId\:TCYfPooU_aJSIptemezeS) to specific segments.
- **Analysis and Reporting:**
  - Use dynamic segments to monitor customer behaviors like "Last interacted > 30 days."

# Practical Use Cases

1. **Static Segments:**
   - Grouping clients for VIP invitations or loyalty programs.
   - Storing customer lists from a past webinar.
2. **Dynamic Segments:**
   - Tracking clients who haven’t interacted in the last 30 days.
   - Auto-updating lists based on tags or labels added to them.

# Best Practices

1. Use **Static Segments** for fixed, unchanging lists to avoid unnecessary management.
2. Opt for **Dynamic Segments** for real-time tracking or when you need lists that evolve automatically.
3. Keep segment names descriptive to avoid confusion (e.g., "Botox Static" vs. "Last Interacted > 30 Days").
4. Periodically review your segments for relevance.

# FAQs

1. **What is the difference between Static and Dynamic Segments?**
   - Static Segments are fixed lists manually curated by users. Dynamic Segments update automatically based on predefined filters like tags or interaction history.
2. **Can a contact exist in both Static and Dynamic Segments?**
   - Yes, contacts can belong to multiple segments simultaneously, regardless of type.
3. **Why can't I see or manage Segments?**
   - Segment visibility and editing are permission-based. Only Admins, Managers, or users with access rights can create or manage segments.
4. **Can I rename a Segment after it's created?**
   - Yes. Click the "..." next to the segment name and choose “Edit” to change the segment name (for Dynamic segments only).
5. **Do Dynamic Segments update in real-time?**
   - Yes, once the filter is applied and saved, the segment updates automatically whenever new contacts match the criteria.
6. **Can I manually add contacts to a Dynamic Segment?**
   - No. Dynamic Segments are rule-based. Manual additions apply only to Static Segments.
7. **Why isn’t my new segment saving?**
   - Ensure your segment name is unique. Duplicate names or missing filter rules can prevent segment creation.
8. **How do I remove a contact from a Static Segment?**
   - You’ll need to deselect the contact from the segment manually using the contact list and remove them from the segment.
9. **Are Segments available for use in Campaigns or Flows?**
   - Yes, both Static and Dynamic Segments can be used for sending targeted messages and triggering automated workflows.
10. **Will segment filters override the global contact filters?**
    - No. Segment filters work independently, but you can apply additional filters inside a selected segment for more specific queries.
